Urge to write rising…rising…

Fic for commentary:

Her brief lapse in control forgotten with the final bite of her meal, M crumpled the wrapper and aimed it at her companion’s head, the flimsy projectile falling short of its target to bounce harmlessly on the floor. Naturally she did not get up to retrieve the litter. “Alright then, answer me this. Are you still suffering from Oneitis?”

“Well, I’m not exactly sick that I know of…”

“You are. Serious business case of Oneitis is what you’ve got. I see it all the time in my line of work.” The Doctor waved a careless hand in the air to emphasize her apparent worldliness and superior mental capacity. “Whoever she…or is it a ‘he’? Well whoever they are, they’re probably long dead or judging by the fact that you have all the pride of that pile of dog shit I stepped in last week, I’m guessing they hate your guts. So give it up, English. Just a little healthful bedside manner from me to you. You know, as thanks for dinner.”

Wurm submitted this for fic commentary, it’s a passage from Prometheus - 

So, at this point, M is still trying to fathom or puzzle out whatever Prometheus has to hide and in this case she’s fairly spot on.  The mystery of him is bothering her. On the one hand, he’s like an open book, on the other she knows he’s hiding something. Just how big a something she’s currently not even aware of but I wanted to get across two very important things:

First: That Prometheus feels that he has to do a type of penance for what he did to Chell and second what kind of a world we’re dealing with. The idea that people die often and obviously in bad situations sets the kind of precedent for this world - M has seen a lot of ‘I must somehow do X to make up for whatever Y was that got my beloved killed’ kind of behaviour and she’s able to apply it to Prometheus. 

On top of that M’s advice is to forget about it and live for oneself - also accurately assuming (even though it’s a guess) that whoever it is that Prometheus is obsessing over - if they are alive - probably hate them.

If I could have gone back, I might have had her rub salt in the wound a bit harder - maybe there would be the suggestion that [Chell] was off fucking someone else or even had M do a little ‘speaking to herself’ trying to decide who it was that Prometheus had wronged, seeing as she is supposed to know everyone. 

However as we know what happens next, that might have been deadweight/unnecessary. 

White Pearl, Black Ocean - Sonata Arctica - This is all about Wurm’s Wheatley and Chell and also read a different way, the relationship between Prometheus and his Chell. And yes I was only partly teasing about furiously masturbating to Tony Kakko but I picked this live music video because the way that Tony Kakko moves on stage is…I dunno, he’s not fluid and a bit mechanical but it works for him. And I like that idea for Prometheus at least - he’s fluttery and he doesn’t realize that it’s not as AWFUL as it could be.

Bloodrocuted - Dethklok - I think I’ve done well up til now not having Dethklok songs…BUT THIS IS WURM’S WHEATLEY’S THEME. Hear me out here. I’m not even doing this from an RP perspective - listen to the lyrics and link them with how GLaDOS is in his head in The Punishment. I swear it works. (Also this is the second song I was able to sing all the way through in a full on death metal growl. First was Awaken)

Don’t Marry Her (Fuck Me) - The Beautiful South - This just has to go here because Prometheus and Wheatley have to deal with just all THIS from the ladies in their lives CONSTANTLY. Whether it’s deserved behaviour or not…depends on the individual dishing it out.

Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie - This one’s M’s role BUT since she’s not a sexual creature the way that the Ziggy Stardust persona was, but I think it also applies a load to what BOTH Prometheus and Wheatley came from - both follow the plot of the story and the whole frigging point of the Ziggy Stardust stage persona was David Bowie ego tripping out of his brain and he actually DID get a bit too much into it didn’t he? So yeah - that’s who Wheatley was. And ps I play lefthanded guitar AND I get a bit full of myself so y’know I like the song.

Zombies Ate Her Brain - The Creepshow - A band from [the town over from] my hometown. Um and considering that the RP is set in the Prometheus Universe….BTW Enjoy the music vid.

Beer - Reel Big Fish - LOVE this song. I think the whole cast of this RP probably needs to rock out to it. In a perfect Universe they’d all do this. 

Poe - Control - The Chells (both - mine and Wurm’s) But CHELL. IN GENERAL. Verrrry much more My Chell. 

All the cool fics have them but I’m not cool but I love music so I’m just going to write one for my own fic. Also I’m a guitarist and a metal head.

1. Replica by Sonata Arctica - Prometheus’ theme (this is the reason behind the fact that I have this minor personal head canon that Wheatley can sing. Because if I do find the stupid metal ball hot, if I think of him sounding like Tony Kakko, OMGOMGOMG Sexiest voice ever.) But honestly, it’s a song that is a lament from a soldier trying to find himself in a world. You have to read it a bit more ironically but it works.

2. Mr. Crowley by Ozzy Osbourne is Caroline’s theme. I think there’s some of Cave Johnson tied up in that. But the tragedy that was Caroline is right here.

3. Hold On To Yourself by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - I’m going to preempt this by saying first of all that you owe it to yourself to make a play list on your ipod or computer or something of power metal. And right in the middle of it - shove this song and the next in the middle of it. Nick Cave and Johnny Cash in general. It legitimately makes you feel mighty. I initially thought this song was M’s but no, Only one lyric applies. It’s really Chell’s.

4. God’s Gonna Cut You Down - Johnny Cash - This is Cave Johnson’s theme proper. M’s future this might be a good song for her but this is the other song that I recommend listening to in the midst of a buttload of power metal.

5. Fear of the Dark - Iron Maiden - I just love this song for Caroline and her presence in this story…and I’ve played this song on the guitar and listened to it and it’s on my playlist for when I go running…and Iron Maiden just makes this song fabulous. It really is the bestest song Iron Maiden’s ever done and I think it is ‘teh secks’ to quote the Monarch that I have a reason to include it on this playlist.

6. The Roof Is On Fire - Bloodhound Gang - THIS is M’s theme. I just love the deadpan way the lyrics are delivered. That’s her. Especially the bit about going to hell and ‘burn mother fucker burn’.

7. The End of this Chapter - Sonata Arctica - I was going to have more Sonata Arctica in here and I think it’d really literally be a better song for NotLW but that’s only if you take the intro at face value. I see it as the way that Chell and Wheatley interact - he’s trying to make her trust him and right now she sees it as uber creepy. But it doubles for NotLW. Also this is one of the first songs I played with the gentleman who is the inspiration for Prometheus or I suppose the way I see Wheatley - he’s tall and has the white blonde hair and is rather skinny but the way we did this that we did do the intro - I play guitar and he plays keyboard/piano and we hardwired a mic into my phone….you see how this went. I walked up to the stage and picked up the guitar…It was a cool trick. By the way he can’t do a death metal growl despite my best efforts to teach him. It’s okay I do all the growling.

8. What Have You Done - Within Temptation - Chell and Wheatley and their rocky relationship. I wish I could find the version I really like - the one that’s guitar heavy but ugh can’t. This isn’t a horrid version.

9. Nemo - Nightwish - Rose’s theme - the way she’s treated by her father and M and what she finds in Space.

10. The Devil Is a Loser (And He’s My Bitch) - Lordi - This is Wheatley and his fate and all he has to deal with in Prometheus. Plus it’s a ridiculously fun song to rock out to.

Bonus tracks: anything by Amon Amarth.And just Sonata Arctica. Especially anything where Tony Kakko sings.

Prometheus WAS allowed to act in the most selfish, negative way possible because he was (is still?) WHEATLEY. It’s pretty obvious that he’s been trying to hide them - he even begged that everyone who knew that he was not a human at all and rather an android keep this fact from Chell AND refused to speak around her (pretty tough for Wheatley in general but shows the extent to which he would go.)

Prometheus, say - if he did fall a second time… now that he’s had a taste of remorse, whatever caused it would have to be BAD. At that stage he wouldn’t try to hide what he was because he’d probably have a virus or…something i don’t know. I doubt even getting plugged into the chassis a second time would fully destroy everything he’s learned.
